Mieux Vivre Aujourd’hui! is a performance art and literary project. The work questions the collective, inherited memory of the enslavement of African people in America and the Caribbean. It also explores how people of African descent relied on cultural repositories—our spirituality, material arts, music, dance, and rituals to survive! These artistic cultural practices symbolically challenged and resisted slavery, protested post-slavery inequalities, and respond to today’s sociopolitical conditions. Through these acts, they shape and assert an identity grounded in survival, resilience, transformation, and JOY.

The evening was performance, enlightenment, and celebration. Its development continues.
