Tekrema Center’s Maafa Commemoration celebrates our voices, resistance, fortitude, and joy in a Black History Month Celebration. Local artists will present their works as their personal journeys, memories, imaginations, and expressions of our history. There will be a talkback with the artists to discuss their works and to hear how we will develop these works into larger performance suites. Please note that due to circumstances beyond Tekrema’s control, The DOMA’s Table, which was scheduled for the following day, is postponed.
We respectfully ask that you please join us on Friday, February 27th, at 7 PM at the Andrew “Pete” Sanchez Multi-Service Center. This event is more than a showcase. It is a community gathering for discussion and planning. We are also raising funds to support our youth programming.
Listen, watch, and enjoy as we celebrate and pay homage to our ancestors.
